In 2007 Iowa State University’s historical Morrill Hall undertook a major “green” renovation. Morrill Hall is the second oldest building on campus, built in 1891, and the nation’s first land grant institution. Due to the increasing cosmetic deterioration, the building was closed in 1998. The decision to renovate the historic building was made in 2002. The project not only restored the historic building on the campus of Iowa State University but integrated sustainable design with the goal of becoming ISU’s first LEED certified project.
