Home to Iowa State University president’s for over 100 years, the Knoll was originally meant only as a personal home but today the first floor of this grand building has become a kind of home to the entire university. The Knoll has nearly 8,000 visitors each year and it became clear that the residence needed updating to accommodate both the president’s family as well as the many visitors. HPC renovation of the building included a renovation of the first floor kitchen, equipping it with stainless steel appliances. A three car garage and elevator were added. Above the expanded garage, a family room with a family kitchen and dining area were added. The total construction project added 3,000 square feet to the house.
